ain't no Couch Potato.

I had an incredible evening with Mr. Ford tonight. This morning he found a set of couches on KSL, a love seat and sofa for a great price. The couch hunt has been on for a while now as we were originally looking for a sectional but with the space in our new place we had to be a little flexible. Kevin drove up to Taylorsville to check them out and they looked great so he bought them. I picked up Grandma & Grandpa Goold's truck after work and waited at home for the Mr. to get home so we could pick our new couches!
While I waited, however I made a trip to the Post Office in hopes that my package would be there, IT WAS!
I ordered my Nie Nie 2011 Calendar last week and have been anxiously waiting for it. For those who don't know what Nie Nie is please visit: http://nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/ Stephanie Nielson is one of my personal hero's. She is an incredible women with an inspirational story. I admire her very much. So I ordered the calendar that she put together and am so in love with it.
When Kevin got off work we drove up to Taylorsville to pick up our couches! They are great. Perfect for what we are looking for. It took a little faith on Kevin's part to be patient with me as I helped him lift the two couches onto the truck. We (mostly me as it was my responsibility to gather tools for moving furniture) tied down the couches with the yarn type string we had. That lasted maybe 2 minutes down the 1-15 before I told Kevin the love seat was getting air! We pulled into a Shopko and got some real rope. Kevin then showed off his awesome Eagle Scout skills with some fancy knots that held the couches down. This time very securely.

Me giving the thumbs up for Kevin's knot skills.

We made it home where Carly helped us get both couches into the house.
They look beautiful in our home. Our living room is almost complete!
I can't wait to get some pictures put up on the walls and some colorful pillows for the couches! Having a home to decorate is so fun. I can feel the wifey/motherly/homemaker coming out in me! I love it <3

the dresser becomes a Ford.

I am so excited to be blogging tonight about the newest member of the Kevin & Kyla Ford family.
.Our Dresser.
Its so beautiful and matches our bed frame PERFECTLY. Honestly, it's like the two were built from the same tree and separated at birth! Its incredible!
So the story began today when Kevin sent me a google chat to check out a dresser he found on KSL. I checked it out and said that I really liked it :)
Apparently I missed the beginning of the message that said If I really liked it to go check it out and if I liked it once I saw it to buy it. I missed that part completely!
So this evening when Kevin came over for dinner he asked me if I had looked at the link and I said yes I had and that I really liked the dresser. He asked if I went and looked at it. (This is where we misunderstood each other). A little frustrated about my reading skills(the lack thereof), we felt sad that we may have missed a great deal on the dresser we wanted.
Luckily though, the women selling the dresser texted us back when we sent her a text and she said it hadn't been sold but she said she had lots of people interested. We told her we'd be over with CASH and would take it tonight if we liked it.
Now, with both the apartment and the dining room table, I feel immediately in love and had to try not to show it in front of the sellers in case it didn't work out, you know: poker face!
Well, same thing tonight with the dresser! As soon as I saw it and knew it was the PERFECT match (same color cherry wood) to the bed frame I literally almost screamed: "we'll take it".
Of course I kept my cool, nodded and smiled at Kevin and said, "I like it, I think it matches well".

We got it loaded into the back of the car and brought it home :)
Luckily Kyle and Carly were still awake, so Kyle helped Kevin move the dresser into the bedroom (its pretty heavy).
Its so great in the room. It looks amazing and gives us the extra space (which we NEED).
I feel so  lucky that Kevin spoils me  and finds all these great deals on KSL to make our little house a home. It's all so lovely and really completes the feel of "our first home".

Tonight was great. The bedroom is almost complete. Maybe a few pictures and a clock to hang and it will be done!
Kevin being silly.

We are so excited.. Can't You tell?

PS. I think this night turned out so great because I made Chicken Roll-ups for dinner. A Ford Family recipe that I have loved making because it tastes so yummy. I love having my own kitchen and being able to cook dinner for Kevin and I. So fun.

Our home is coming together.

Today I attended the ward Kevin and I will go to once we are married. The Orchard Hills Ward here in American Fork. I met the bishop and the relief society president and am so excited to be back in a family ward! So many children in this ward. Has to be a 6 to 1 ratio when it comes to children and adults in this new ward, but I can tell it is a great ward and am anxious to get a calling, (maybe I'll get one before we get married).

Our bed frame was also delivered today! Finally! The guy said he would be here yesterday and then bailed and so he came by today about 1:30. The bed frame is beautiful. Kevin did a great job finding this stunning cherry wood frame.

The frame didn't come with stands to support the two box springs so Kevin had to get creative today and BUILD them. I was so impressed Kev could put together two beams so quickly for our bed frame. I definitely got a handy man!

With the two frames in place the bed frame was complete and we could put it together. It looks amazing! I cannot wait to get new bed sheets and a dresser, also to put up pictures and complete the bedroom. I guess I have some weeks before Kevin moves in so hopefully I can make it more homey by the time he gets here!

The rest of the day was great. Went to Elk Ridge to watch the Super Bowl. Uncle Mark made Chili and the Packers took home the trophy :)

Picked up the final boxes left and MarK & Catherine's and set up my old shelf system as a tv stand! It will work for now.

That's all for tonight everyone. Hope you all had a lovely Sunday.
