The post you've all have been waiting for.
I am so sorry everyone that it has taken me all this time to get around to blogging about our big day!!
It FINALLY happened. After a short courtship (9 1/2 weeks) and an engagement that dragged on for MONTHS while waiting for paperwork (18 1/2 weeks) Kevin & I were sealed for Time & ALL Eternity on March 18th 2011 in the Sacramento California Temple. It was incredible. It was perfect to be surrounded by family and close friends as we knelt across the alter and began our lives together!
It rained that day, of course. It rained when we went to Disneyland for the first time and it rained during our engagement photo shoot also! It makes sense that it would RAIN on the most magical day of our lives! We were both told however that rain means good luck. We are hoping for LOTS of luck with all the rain we've had :)
We arrived in Sacramento on Wednesday afternoon. We went straight to the Social Security office where we applied for our marriage license ($82 dollars later). Thursday Kevin's family arrived from Washington and we had a intimate family dinner at BJ's Brewery in Roseville with Kevin's siblings and parents and my sisters and parents and grandparents. This was the first time our parents had met and everything was lovely!
You'd think the night before the wedding the bride and groom would get to bed early for some needed beauty rest.... Not us :) We had the most amazing people putting together our reception hall and luncheon that we had to stay up until 1 in the morning helping and supporting our incredible friends! We are so blessed to have had so many wonderful people work so hard to make our day perfect. They succeeded!
Friday after the sealing we had a luncheon for all our friends and family who came to the sealing. Great food and some great stories from a few friends and family members!
The reception started around 7 and we were overwhelmed with how many people came. Kevin told me that I am definitely loved by the groups of people who kept showing up! I felt so much love and support for my new life I was so happy to share that day with everyone who came!
The reception lasted two hours. We had a receiving line, cake, dancing, a special bouquet and garter presentation to my grandparents who have been married 51 years (their wedding anniversary is March 18th also so we honored them instead of a traditional bouquet toss), it was sweet if I may say so myself.
Lots of food and mingling with guests. We had so many compliments on the incredible decoration. I wanted a vintage type theme for the wedding and my mom and the women (and men) who helped make that happen, did an incredible job surpassing my DREAM wedding!
Kevin & I stayed in Sacramento Friday night at a very romantic bed and breakfast downtown! It was close to the airport which was great because we had a flight to catch the next morning!
We had a layover in Dallas, TX before we headed to Cabo. Kevin lost his ring on the SECOND night of our marriage!! (Luckily it showed up in his suitcase a week later when we got home and unpacked).
We arrived in Cabo on Sunday to beautiful warm weather and an ocean view!
5 days in paradise is more what it felt like! Our SUITE was over 1400 sq feet, (not that we used more than the about 10sq feet the majority of the time) but it was so beautiful. We had an incredible view of the ocean and the resort was stunning. Room service for breakfast every morning, pool side by day and fine dinning at night! Such an incredible experience. Only one day of Severe sunburning for me which only meant the next day I had to stay in the "PRINCESS BED" by the pool! I didn't mind at all.
We went into town one day and walked around. I can't tell you how awesome it is to have a husband who speaks Spanish. Definitely helps when trying to get a good deal with all of the little shop owners!
Funny story. So 24 years ago my parents went to Mexico for their honeymoon. My dad bought a shirt of the street that he thought said COCA COLA.. it wasn't until he wore it around town for a few days and on their way home a couple told them a story about a crazy American guy who was wearing a shirt all week that said: 'come caca' which nicely means, 'eat poop'. Well in honor of my father ......
| Ha. Love my dad! |
Yup we found the same shirt! 24 years later! It was a great moment for me to honor my dad and Kevin and I certainly got a good laugh!
Cabo was amazing. I feel so blessed to have an incredible husband who wanted our honeymoon to be incredible! He did such a great job planning and it was an amazing week!
We arrived back to Utah on Friday and headed to spend the weekend in Elk Ridge at Grandma and Grandpa Goold's to attend The Festival of colors on Saturday. It was such a fun experience to be with Aubrey & Daniel and thousands of other crazy Utah people celebrating the Hire Krishna festival! Who ever thought throwing chalk on each other could be so much fun. Oh, it was!
On Sunday of the same weekend we had a scary moment when Aubrey called us and said she needed to go to the hospital because she was really sick. Once we got Aubrey to the hospital with Daniel and the grandparents we headed home. On the way home I apparently decided that I didn't feel well either. We went home and after about 2 hours of me lying on the papasan completely miserable I finally started throwing up! Every 30 minutes until about 3am. It was miserable. I cant tell you how blessed I am though for an amazing husband who held my hair back the whole time and cleaned out my barf bowl. Sounds gross I know, but It was a very endearing moment for me! Especially after 9 days of marriage. I stayed sick for a few days and wasn't able to return to work until the following Wednesday.
Before all the sickness happened, Friday, while we were in Elk Ridge we got to open all our presents! We got everything we needed and what we didn't, we got with all the gift cards and cash everyone gave us! On Saturday we took advantage of all the gift cards/cash and got some household things for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and filled our fridge with lots of food! Our friends and family really spoiled us is all I can say! Thanks Everyone!
We had so much fun putting together our little home and it turned out great! Our house is coming together so nicely and we have EVERYTHING we need! Its beautiful.
Well we are now at 22 days of Marriage and things are PERFECT.
I say perfect and I truly mean it.
Neither of us could be happier.
We are both back to work, weekly temple date nights, and not having to say goodbye at the end of the night is the best part!

Again, we are so thankful for everyone who helped make our big day incredible. From the amazing group of people who made the reception site a fairy tale, to the cooks, to our FABULOUS PARENTS and family and to all our amazing friends who came!
We are very excited for our Open House on the 24th of this month and look forward to seeing all of our Utah family and friends! (Follow link below for details)
