is the best sound in the WHOLE wide world.
I went to my doctors appointment today and got to hear the baby's heartbeat again. I've said before that it's definitely not as exciting as seeing him on the screen, but hearing that little rapid beating sound melts my heart.
Baby and mommy are both doing very well at this point.
I passed the diabetes test (thank heaven) and only gained two pounds in the last four weeks which was much more acceptable then my DEVASTATING twelve pound gain at my last appointment (see here)
I also had my blood drawn today to make sure my body has not started building up anti-bodies towards the baby (if he is a different blood type since I am A-). I go back tomorrow to the hospital to get my shot and wouldn't you know, the shot is injected into my buttocks. Super NOT excited about that, however Kev and I will get to take a tour of Labor and Delivery while we are at Timpanogas Hospital tomorrow and I am VERY excited about that.
One more appointment in May and then I start going every
two weeks for 3 appointments, and then every week for the last two
weeks, assuming he hasn't already made his grand entrance.
I still cannot believe that I am 2/3's done with growing a HUMAN inside of me!
It's insane to think that before we know it our little family of two will be a
little bit bigger family of THREE.
Exciting and kind of terrifying all at the same time.
I was thinking today how I have NOT kept a very good journal (besides my blog posts) of everything I have been feeling and experiencing during this pregnancy. I haven't kept close recordings of my food cravings or aversions or trips to the bathroom or the fact that my scalp is as dry as sandpaper, and I am kind of disappointed in myself for not keeping a better record. I have heard how women LOVE to look back on all those moments they experienced during that LONG nine months; especially with their first.
I have started writing down what I can remember from the past six months and hope I will be better at recording those memories for the remaining twelve weeks.
Memory of this week: Terrible, TERRIBLE heartburn and discomfort. Blah.
What were some of your favorite memories or recordings of your pregnancies mommy readers?
Please share!! I love to hear what others have experienced.
Hang in there everyone!
I loved loved loved being pregnant. Except for the heartburn, constipation, nausea ... LOL Whenever I would go in for appointments my doctor would say, "You're this far along, you will probably start experiencing (insert annoying side effect here)," and sure enough, I would start experiencing it the very next day!!! It got to the point where I started cursing my doctor. LOL But you're right. Hearing my baby's heartbeat for the first time, and every time thereafter, was the most awesome and joyful thing to ever happen to me!
ReplyDeleteI also thought it was pretty awesome that I didn't get stretch marks. Then one night when I was eight months pregnant, I had a dream that this small, rectangular area on my belly was really, really itchy and sprouted stretch marks. You guessed it, the very next day I woke up with a really, really itchy belly and stretch marks.
The only cravings I had were for milk (I went through a gallon and a half a week all by myself) and KFC mashed potatoes and gravy. I don't recall having any food aversions except for the normal "nothing sounds good because the nausea is so bad I can't even get out of bed."
But whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH "March Of The Penguins" while you're pregnant. I bawled for a week!
Love you!
Janet this made my whole day! Thanks for sharing! Love you right back!
DeleteGood luck with your shot :) I have to get it too. It hurts and seems like a big deal.....until you get an epidural-then no shot or needle even compares!
ReplyDeleteI just love every little kick I have felt with each pregnancy, but I will never forget the first kick I felt with William. I was sitting in class and all of a sudden felt this big kick. I ran out of class right away to call Kirk :) This babies kicks have been just as exciting. Especially the other day when I literally felt her foot (I'm assuming)-I could press on my stomach and feel it on the outside, it was pretty amazing.
I second Janet's comment--be careful what you watch while pregnant, but ESPECIALLY after! I'm not usually a cryer in movies but about a week after William was born we watched "The curious case of benjamin button" I was completely bawling the whole time. For me, my hormones were just as crazy post-baby as they were in pregnancy.
i love your blog.
ReplyDeleteHey Girlie!! I had to get 4 RhoGAM shots with Chloe (I started to spot early and I am also A-) they give them in the upper bum cheek and honestly it doesn’t hurt at all....but I do have a bit of padding there;) It’s like a flu shot in the bum. I CRAVED orange juice and only from McDonald's....wasn't so yummy after the baby:( I loved feeling Chloe move inside and I liked to play with her and poke her and she would kick back it was fun!!!
