When I went to the store last week to get some milk and couldn't find a parking spot within a MILE (exaggeration) of the place, I knew something was up.
As soon as I stepped through those doors and saw the HUNDREDS of children and mommies running around I was QUICKLY reminded that it was that Special Time of Year,
Back to School time.
I don't have school aged children yet, but I absolutely have my own thoughts on Back 2 School.
Enjoy.
First.
I secretly REALLY miss this time of year.
I LOVED the back to school shopping part of it all.
I loved shopping for a new backpack, pens, papers, highlighters and binders.
I loved the smell of new "required reading" books fresh from Barnes & Noble.

8th Grade for me Maybe? Obviously the fashion part didn't start until high school... and apparently my sister and I still loved to match!
I loved grocery shopping the weekend before for all of our sack lunch goodies and especially for our first day of school ice cream sundae's for breakfast tradition.
I LOVED new school clothes.
Fall is my favorite time of year for fashion and with school starting right before fall, it was always perfect to stock up on the newest styles!
I loved how crazy it got when all 5 of us kids were in school at the same time.
School supplies + sack lunches + school clothes TIMES FIVE!
My parents were champs!
Second.
Now that I am a mom, and am no longer going to school, I have realized what madness the whole back to school shopping really is!
Remind me to take my kids back to school shopping in JULY or the first day the school supplies come out to avoid the chaos. Honestly, its ridiculous!
(I think the ridiculousness is a little more heightened here in Utah)
Third.
I never realized how much JOY parents feel when their kids go back to school in the Fall.
It's so funny to read all of the FB posts from friends and family regarding their kids being back in school:
"First day of FREEDOM.... I mean, First Day of School"
"Ahhh, Peace & Quiet at last"
"Jumping for Joy"
"And they are Off!!"
"And Mommy's Summer Vacation can officially start."
I can only imagine I will one day understand the joy/pain of having kids in school all year then having them home all summer, but for now, I am loving all the honesty from you folks!
Keeping things real!
Fourth.
I LOVE First Day of School Photos.
PreSchool
Junior or Senior Year.
I especially love seeing the little ones going into Kindergarten or 1st grade with their "what I want to be when I grow up" statement at the bottom.
Those are my favorite!
I also really like the older kids and their 1st Day of School photos followed by the previous years.
It's so neat to see how kids grow up and how a year really changes a lot of them!
A Classic. My cousin Jordan & I. Elementary School.
Jordan & I again. His Jr. Year. My Sophomore.
I am sure it will be a bittersweet day when our Hunter goes off to school for the first time and I look forward to that day...
But for now, He and I will continue to build forts, and visit animal farms and have Mommy & Son Adventures.
Happy 1st Week of School to all those amazing kids, teachers & Parents out there!
We would love to hear what you're favorite part of Back to School is.

So cute and i love your new design!
ReplyDeleteI love back to school shopping too. I loved it as a kid and "organizing" all the new stuff in my new binder and/or backpack.

ReplyDeleteYay for back to school! Love all these pictures, and just the time of year is good, you know? Not too hot, but still warm. And you get to feel like you're starting brand new every fall. But then again, the school supplies section during that time of year kind of scares me. Like, a lot.
ReplyDeletePS your favorite things party looked like so much fun yesterday! Wish I was there!
I love the group pic. Hunters face is how I picture him ALL the time! Funny Kid.I wish I had had this one for the video. But I am glad you have it and thanks for sharing. Ps, I miss the Utah GSGoolds.
