Monday Mommy Moment

Happy Monday Readers!

Sorry it's been a week + since I have written. Our computer "Herbert" got sick last week and has been at the repair shop recovering. Hopefully the Mr. brings him home later this evening. (Gonna try to post on my SLOW laptop for now)

Did anyone see this commercial last night during the Oscars?
I sobbed as I watched and listened and thought about how in just a handful of months my little boy will be here!

I have been letting it sink in since we found out Baby KFo was in fact 'Baby Boy', that I will soon be up to my neck in blue, sports, dirt, GI Joe, cub scouts and more dirt!
I am not sure that I am really prepared for all of the little things that come with having a boy. In a family with four sisters and only one brother, our barbies and dress up outweighed his Tonka trucks and Legos by a ton. I had always imagined that when I started my own family, I would have a girl first, at least I would know what I was doing to start.

I have been reading blogs and talking with friends who have had a son first and their stories all seem to echo each other. Everyone has promised me that having a boy first is wonderful.

Words cannot describe how excited I am that baby boy is on his way, but I will admit I am a little intimated by my sweet son already.

Just this evening on the news they showed a young boy who snuck out of his house in the middle of the night to fight crime with his Nerf gun. Luckily he didn't find any bad guys and was picked up by the police in his neighborhood and returned home safely. Could I handle that?

One book I am anxious to read is, 'How to tuck in a Superhero". I am always interested in reading new books and so a book on having a son is sure to be a winner.

What suggestions or words of advice to you mothers of sons have?!
I'd love to hear what experienced mommies have to say! Please share.

Tomorrow is our twenty-week doctor's apt to make sure baby boy is growing properly. I am always so anxious to see his littleness on the black and white screen and tomorrow's ultrasound is supposed to last thirty minutes. I feel spoiled that I will get to stare at him for so long! I also get to add the ultrasound to the DVD the doctors office is making for us so I can watch him at home whenever I want.

Today I was feeling a little homesick as I saw a commercial for vacationing in California. Mom is planning a baby shower for me in April back home and I cannot believe that when I head home for that, it will have been SIX MONTHS since my last visit. That is the longest I have EVER gone without visiting home.
Guess that means I'm growing up huh?!?!

Well, better get dinner started. Husband is on his way home and we are watching the Bachelor tonight. (Don't judge us. It's just so ridiculous and unreal that we get a kick out of it.)

Here is my twenty-week baby bump photo (in case you missed it on Facbeook)
Finally little boy is making an appearance.

Don't forget to share your tips mommies!

  3. I always felt every child deserves a big brother! So all your children will be so blessed!! Coming From one with 5 boys & 1 girl, I must echo what LaRon has always told me with each pregnancy. "You will have what the Lord Knows is BEST for you!" SO true!! You will automatically know what to do and you have LOTS of wonderful people in your life to help.

  4. First of all you will be a fabulous mommy! Second, babies are pretty much all the same (except for the plumbing) so there is nothing you need to know right away (well maybe be prepared to get wet during diaper changes)But, you will become accustomed to your little one as he grows and you will know him better than anyone! There is nothing anyone can tell you to prepare you for how wonderful it is to have a sweet baby boy. But one thing you should know is that little boys LOVE their mommies! You will love having a boy!
