Camping Xs Two!
This past week our family went camping, TWICE.
It's one of the activities Kevin and I have been wanting to do as a family all summer but between vacations, work and church obligations, we just hadn't found time to squeeze in an overnight trip.
So this week we definitely made up for it with back to back camping trips up both of Utah County's popular canyons.
Wednesday we headed up to Granite Flatt's Campground in American Fork Canyon.
We had the most charming little campsite that sat right above a stream.
We visited Tibble Fork Reservoir where Kevin unsuccessfully fished and the children made friends with a grandma who shared rice krispie treats.
We ate hot dogs and cooked smores.
We spoiled the kids with a movie on the iPad before falling asleep.
It was FREEZING cold that night and I hardly slept in fear that my children were freezing to death in their sleep.
Fortunately, no one froze and we enjoyed a morning campfire with breakfast before packing up to head home.
Friday night we were back at it with an overnight trip to Nunn's Park up Provo Canyon.
My parents came to town last week and it was their idea to have all of us go camping together.
My folks, conveniently, had all their own camping gear as they had spent the prior ten days road tripping across 6 states scoping out land for a future home.
It was a fabulous idea and it was amazing to all be together.
The kids had so much fun with their cousin James.
James left for California with my parents on Sunday and we are so grateful for the time we got to spend with him and my sister and her husband before they start a new chapter in their lives outside of Utah.
Good food, fun games, laughter and hibernating from the massive rain storm made for a camping trip to remember.
Happy Trails Readers!
